Millumin and 24 Full HD screen
Hello,
I'm working for an university research platform. We have a room with a large screen (24 monitors 55" Full HD) driven by an Analogway Acquilon C video processor which allows us to display contents of 11520px x 4230px. I use Millumin V3.19.o to manipulate my contents. I have a Mac Pro 2019 Intel Xeon W 8 core processor at 3.5 GHz with a Radeon Pro Vega II DUO graphics card that allows me to output 6 4K signals and cover the entire surface of my screen
- We are currently working on optimising video quality with researchers who need to manipulate 30 000px wide files and zoom into the image. Do you know why I have an error message in Millumin telling me that the file can't be imported because its size exceeds the maximum resolution allowed by my hardware while the OS displays them without any problem with Preview?
- It seems to be missing a few pixels in the bottom left corner of each output. There is no such problem when the computer is turned on, it appears when Millumin is launched, do you know why ?
- When I launch the Interactions menu, I can't interact on the position and the scale of my media. Is this normal?
- Finally, a question related to the Mac. When the computer is turned off, if I turn it on with 1 control monitor and 6 4K monitors, the Mac refuses to turn on.
If I unplug the 6 4K monitors, it starts up automatically.
Do you know if Apple blocks the startup when there are too many monitors? Do you have any ideas on how to get around this problem?

Frames dropping every 4s. when BM HDMI to SDI is used.
Hi,
Im having an issue I can't get over. Maybe someone had the same problem.
I'm using macPro2019. One output it the GUI, second is 4k 50hz to RGBlink processor, third 1920x1080p 50hz goes to BM HDMI to SDI converter and next to optic fibre converter.
In this setup FPS drops from 50 to 48 every around 4 seconds. It seems that whole system drops in that moment as even the cursor stops while being moved over the desktop.
Unpluging the BM device resolves the issue. Using ImagePro 2 causes the same problem.
Activity monitor doesn't show any peaks or drops in system performance.
Any Idea any one?

Video mapping w/lighting activation by sensor
Hello guys! I am working in a AV project where I would like to set up 4 video proyectors and a lighting system, there is not trouble for the moment, but things are getting tricky when I want to install a proximity sensor ( any brand recomendation??? ) the final goal would be something like once the night comes the video proyectors start the show and when somebody walks close to our sensor, the video projectors go down and the lighting system starts during 5 minutes, then it goes down again and video proyectors come up until the show finish in the morning, everything working by itself.
Do you guys know if would be posible to make this scenario with Millumin?

Scale and brightness
Greetings! Im new to millumin, but we heave a show which gonna be tonight.
So my question is:
When I'm changing layer's scale it depends on picture brightness on a screen.
I mean that Im do change to scale for example from 100% to 30% and brightness of the picture also changing from 100 to 30%
Is it possible to change just a scale ?
Is it normal ? How to scale picture/video (doesn't matter) without losing brightness of it ?

Datapath setup
Hello everyone. I have a question regarding using a Datapath FX4 and an M1 MAC Mini.
I have 4 BenQ projectors that run at 1024 x 768 pixels. Distributed eaually to cover a 10meter x 3 meter screen.
So there will be 3 soft edges.
The question I have is anyone know the settings that should be set in Wall Designer and how best to set the Outputs in Millumin?
If I use an advanced Output I can't find the edgeblending setting but when I set a horizontal theses appear but it seems hard to correctly make a good blend.
Any ideas or advice is greatly appreciated.

MacBook Pro 16” with 3 x 4K output

Im planning to make new setup. On apple website, they said that MacBook Pro 16” can handle 3 x 4K displays. Does anybody have some experience with 3 x 4K displays on Millumin?

Infrared GigE Vision
Hi,
I've purchased this device + suitable lens, accessories and stage props with the correct light source to be captured by this camera sensor (940nm), what's left is to make it work natively in MacOS and of course to get the video feed into Millumin.

I'm lost, like really lost, it was more complicated than I originally thought and I'm now trying to learn GitHub, code reading/writing, compiling, xcode, home-brew bla bla and etc etc but with no success, I'm lost, really lost... :(
Is there a way for a not so computer literate person like myself to get this working with Millumin? Any advice/help/instructions are more than welcome.

UDP / ADB Lighting

For now, I was using an Avab lighting console. I was sending messages from Millumin via OSC, for example :
/actionmacro "GO PB,6" (thanks Philippe)
The Hathor manual is not very explicit about UDP messages it is expecting, and their forum / contact are down...
If possible, I'd like to keep my OSC data track because I use the flag function, and just modify the address.
For what I understand from the manual, I have to create an UDP event and put whatever message I want to use to trigger it "GO PB,6" for example. But I don't know what would happen with the address part of the OSC message...
Does anyone ever give it a try ?

Protect a layer from deleting
Hello the Community, I'm new on this forum.
I start with a very simple question :
Is it possible to protect a layer ?
because very often I want to delete something (for example a pattern in the interaction window) but it's a selected layer behind which is deleted .
When I see it soon enough it's ok with cmd Z but when I don't see it I loose a lot of time to reconstruct my parameters.
The lock doesn't do this job.

MacPro 2 Ethernet output
Hello, I work actually with a Macpro from 2013 with two ethernet outputs and it seems that we see only the first ethernet port in Millumin.
We can control a Barco beamer thru Millumin / data track or keybaord DMX track via the first ethernet port.
We can control the Barco beamer thru google page via both ethernet ports.
What we try to do is :
Recieving OSC from the light console to send cues in Millumin and in some cues the shutter is closed thru data track.
But the light is on a manual address very specific which doesn't seem to work for the beamer so we try to have a net for Millumin / beamer and a net for Millumin / light.
Is it possible to have 2 different nets because in the Manage device / OSC, I see only one local IP ?

Quartz Composer RGB
Hi
I have created a simple QTZ patch that controls the RGB of a layer via midi when inserted. The midi part works fine. If i insert the plug in and click on a media cell the values of the plugin reset to zero and have to be reset to full, This happens each time the media cell is changed so i can not get a smooth transition between colours on media change.
I'm looking at creating a simple mapped lighting setup allowing cue-able colour changes across a set .
Any info would be appreciated.

Multi projectors with Mac
Hi everyone,
I have Millumin both on my laptop and on a MacMini.
It's not so clear how can I have differents projectors connected with differents canvas.
I would need the simple way to have
canvas1 on projector 1
canvas 2 on projector 2
etc...
For the Mac Mini
1/ should I plug 2 different HDMI (via usb-c)
2/ Or should I buy an external device ? Is the Matrox Head the right thing to buy ?

export de la timeline vers le dashborad d'un travail opacité

je souhaite séparer deux parties d'un clip (couplets, refrains) pour les travailler différemment sur la projection. Je découpe donc les parties dans la timeline et visiblement ça crée un fond noir sur les parties ou il n'y a pas de clip je place donc un filtre opacity que je règle dans le déroulé du clip pour laisser la place a la vidéo placée au dessous quand il n'y a rein dans celle du dessus. J'exporte le layer travaillé : export to file dans le dashboard mais l'opacity ne fonctionne pas. Pouvez-vous m'aider ?

Frame Dropping
Hello,
First time Millumin user here.
I'm having a little trouble with videos not playing back well on this high powered machine I've hired!
Mac Pro 5.1 spec:
OS: 11.4 Big Sur
Processor: 3 Ghz 8-core Intel Xeon E5
Memory 32GB 1866 Mhz DDR3
Graphics: AMD FirePro D700 6GB
I've got two 4:3 projectors hooked up, canvas is 3200 x 1200.
Weirdly the Lightware switch I'm going through is setup with a 50Hz EDID but mac won't let me choose anything but 60Hz and the projectors are getting 59.59Hz.
Layer stack is something like this always:
Top layer black PNG masked to fit the edges of this spiked screen I've got.
Next layers (approx 4) playing back 3200x1200 videos rendered ProRes4444 with alpha or ProRes422 without @25fps. The layers have masks on to cover appropriate sections of this spikey canvas screen.
I have a lot of media in the library as we're creating the show. I'll probably be removing most once we're set.
I've found that playback drops to 6-8fps when playing 3 layers together and key framing speed. As in, pause two layers and play the other one.
I've tried programming this in timeline and dashboard and can't seem to get a good smooth playback.
Thank you so much! Quick replies would be helpful as the show opens on Saturday the 26th of June and if I can't get it working in next day or so I'll have to swap to another playback option :(

Control Millumin via OSC string in console EOS ti ETC
hello,
after adressing well Millumin on Macpro to receive OSC signal from the EOS ti light console, we send a "ping" from EOS and we found the macpro.
But ( after write a string to launchcolumn [1] ) nothing happen...(do we have to enter the interaction mode like in midi to attribuate
Any one have do this type of thing ?
We have two network.
One is for control a Barko shutter with artnet (data track) and the other to synchronise Millumin with the consol via OSC.
Do you think that is better to do this with artnet ?

how do I export files for a media player?
the video work I'm mapping will be projected and run on a media player in a loop. how do I export my file in the correct way? the black parts in between the videos need to be hidden, which is why MOV wouldn't work. Thanks in advance!

Audio OBS via Syphon (Millu > OBS)

I have some videos with sound. But I can’t refund audio in OBS (ok in Millu). Something to do on Millumin ?

MIDI Key from Ableton Live to Millumin (N - CC)
Hi ppl here - I am new here.
I've been trying to find how I can map midi signal from Ableton Live to Millumin. The problem is that when I send Midi key from ableton,, it's always starts with N- (forexample ableton Live F3 key recognized as N65 on Millumin)
When I try to set it manually on Millumin, it automatically corrects as CC, and I cannot set Nxx.
I have so many midi key to map, and it will be so much easier for me if I can make this manually set on Millumin, so I don't have to send each midi key to set a ques..
Let me know when someone has tips for me!
